Adventures in a cold place
So for spring break, my parents decided to go somewhere unconventional (read: cold) whilst everyone else went to Florida. At first I was confused as to why we were going here, but after almost a day, I absolutely love it.
It’s really cute here, lots of Mansard Roofs and Indian restaurants, and I’m now quite jealous of my friend who lives here because I really like it that much.
I went into an amazing bookstore and got a used copy of The Great Gatsby that I cannot wait to read, and I found something I desperately needed in a thrift store- rainboots. But they’re vintage Italian Marc Jacobs rainboots that I got for $40, so I am a little too excited. I also went into a glasses store today and found a frame shape I actually kind of like on my face, but they were $300 and I kept messing up their lovely display, so I was not in there very long. Then we went into this little tobacco store and had violet gum intended for smokers and I learned hookahs were legal.
I also got to listen to my new Avett Brothers album (Emotionalism, I highly recommend it!) today on the plane/in the hotel and the amount I enjoy it is ridiculously high and I really want to thank Isabel (http://nonamegirlinjellyshoes.tumblr.com/ I would put the link in her name but I can’t from my iPod!) for recommending it to me.
Hopefully there will be nice foreign food tonight, which is not super common for my family because they don’t want to spend $70 at a restaurant when they can feed all of us something homemade for $15. Since we didn’t spend anything on plane tickets though, (because of miles,) they seem to think it is ok to spend almost 4 tickets worth on nice food. I do enjoy nice food, so this is quite alright with me.
